The Business Decision That Changed Everything
There is a version of going all in that looks clean and confident from the outside. You’ve seen it on Instagram. Someone announces they quit their job, launched their business, and never looked back.
What you rarely see is what happens in the hours before that decision, when your heart is racing, and you are standing on a sidewalk calling your husband to tell him something you are not even sure you fully believe yet.
That is the version I want to tell you about, because I think it is a lot closer to what you are actually living than the highlight reel version.
I Did Not Go Looking for a Life-Changing Decision That Day
A little over a year ago, I quit my 9-5 and went all in on Emberlyn. But the decision that made that possible happened a little earlier, and I did not see it coming.
I had been building Emberlyn since 2023, but for nearly two years, I kept my corporate marketing job running alongside it. During that same season I also became a mom, which meant most days were a balancing act between a colicky baby, commuting 45 mins each way to the office, and trying to figure out what this business could actually become.
My husband, who we lovingly call my volunteer CFO, had said to me during a walk one evening while I was pregnant that I needed to choose: go all in, or shut it down (in the most supportive way possible).
I told him right there that I wanted to go all in.
But wanting something and being ready to act on it are two very different things.
The Sidewalk Moment That Changed My Life
Early in 2025, I attended a local event about paid ads. I want to be completely honest with you here: I had no idea what was being sold. I went because it was close to home and I thought my ideal clients might be in the room.
I had zero intention of buying anything. I did not even know the price going in.
By the end of day two of the event, I was standing on the sidewalk outside the venue, looking up at my husband's office building across the street, with my heart racing, calling him to say that I thought I wanted to invest $30,000 in an ads program and quit my job.
I was terrified to tell him the number because part of me expected him to shut it down immediately. But he did not. And when he didn’t immediately say no, something shifted in me. I thought, “Maybe this is it, maybe this is my ticket out of corporate”.
That night, we talked, we prayed, and we looked at a lot of spreadsheet math.
The next morning, Ashley, the coach running the program, sent both of us a voice memo after I had reached out to her with a question. My husband listened to it and told me he thought I should do it, but that I would have to leave my job to fullycommit.
The Investment Mindset Shift That Changes Everything
I work with business owners who have been in business for a while. They aren’t just starting out. They have proven their work, and they know they are good at what they do.
But many of them have never made a significant investment in their business.
They have stayed in the cycle of doing everything themselves, keeping overhead low, and wondering why growth feels so hard to sustain.
When they start thinking about investing in a website, it can feel enormous. I certainly understand that.
What I want to offer you is a different way to frame it.
Investing in your business is not a waste of money. It is the thing that makes growth possible. Every business owner I know who has reached a new level did so because at some point they stopped waiting until they felt ready and started making the decision that would get them there.
The risk does not disappear when you invest. But staying exactly where you are has its own cost.
This Could Be Your Moment
You face big decisions in your business every single day, but it is not every day that you face an all-in decision.
The kind that requires something real from you, not just financially, but in terms of showing up, doing the work, clarifying the message, and committing to the process.
A new website is one of those decisions for a lot of my clients. And I don’t say that to pressure you. I say it because I have watched what happens when someone truly decides that this is the thing that will support the next level of their business.
If you have been on the fence about whether this is the season to finally invest in a website that actually works for your business, I want to invite you to think about it the way I had to think about my own decision that night.
You already know whether you are ready. The question is whether you are willing to act on it.
